The Northsea coastline of the Netherlands, with its refreshing North Sea climate, have always played an important role in the life of the artist. It was his most preferred place where he oftentimes spend many hours, even by stormy weather, trying to make the movement of the waves happen in his aquarelles. In the immensity and continues dynamic movement of the sea and sky he recognised the movement of the soul. "This is my cathedral" he used to say jokingly.
